Redefining Education: Centering Community, Family, and Cultural Assets to Create Hope and Belonging
In this inspiring keynote, we will explore the impact of schools centering the assets and strengths of the ecosystems of their students, families, and communities on students’ success. Often, our educational systems prioritize conformity within our standardized educational system, leading to a focus on student deficits that can leave educators feeling overwhelmed and students feeling marginalized. This session aims to shift that paradigm by centering the inherent strengths and assets within our students and their families.
Attendees will discover practical strategies to cultivate hope and belonging—two critical elements for student success. Research shows that hope is a stronger predictor of post-secondary achievement than ACT and SAT scores or high school GPAs, and fostering a sense of belonging can transform school culture into a powerful engine for student success. Join us to rejuvenate your leadership approach and learn how to create environments that center cultural strengths and family assets to support the success of every student. Together, we can reshape our schools and, in turn, the futures of the young people we serve! Get ready to be energized in this call to action!
