April 2020: Hatching Results Partners With COELSC and the California Association of School Counselors

Hatching Results is actively supporting school counselors and administrators through our partnerships with County Offices of Education Leadership for School Counseling (COELSC) and California Association of School Counselors (CASC). COELSC was quick to respond to school closures by developing a School Counselor Virtual Toolkit. Our team provided resources, co-constructed a sample letter to families, and collaborated to develop the toolkit, which was launched on March 30th to all 58 county offices of education across California.

Recently, members of the Hatching Result team also joined the CASC COVID-19 Emergency Task Force Committee, by leading in the development of the administrators' page on the CASC COVID-19 Task Force website. CASC's website includes a wealth of information and tools to support school counselors in their implementation of virtual school counseling programs. Specific page topics within the CASC Task Force website include:

  • Grade Level Resources

  • Special Populations

  • Mental Health

  • College & Career

  • Alternative Schools

  • Graduate Students

  • Professional Development

  • Stakeholders

  • Law & Ethics

Hatching Results is pleased to share our partnership with OCDE and CDE to provide statewide training and consultation on the school counselor's role in MTSS, which we call MTMDSS (Multi-Tier, Multi-Domain System of Supports).

For the past three years, Hatching Results has provided the content for a school counselor strand at the statewide conference referred to as the PLI (Professional Learning Institute). Hatching Results has also provided MTSS Summits over the last two years, designed to provide administrators and school counselors with a better understanding of the role of school counselors in Yolo, Kern, Orange, and San Diego counties.

The COVID-19 crisis has led to the postponement of this year's summits (in Butte, San Luis Obispo, and Los Angeles counties). Soon OCDE will release a website with ALL of the materials utilized during the statewide training, as well as online courses and certificate options. Be on the lookout for the announcement coming soon.

Hatching Results is currently still scheduled to present sessions at the MTSS PLI hosted by OCDE in Anaheim, July 28-30, 2020.
