Dr. Julie Hartline to Win Georgia School Counselor Association Lifetime Achievement Award

We’re thrilled to announce that our very own Dr. Julie Hartline will receive a lifetime achievement award from the Georgia School Counselor Association (GSCA).

For this award, GSCA recognizes an individual who has:

  • Made outstanding contributions through a body of work that has made a profound impact on the school counseling profession.

  • Been a partner/ally of the GSCA and has supported its initiatives.

  • Changed school counseling through their contributions to the profession, leadership in the profession, and/or mentoring of others in the profession.

  • Represented the values, ideals, and ethics of the profession.

Dr. Hartline has worked in education for more than 30 years, including as a school counselor, counseling department chair, district counseling consultant, clinical assistant professor of school counseling, and director for Hatching Results. She has shared her passion, enthusiasm, and knowledge regarding the profession with school counselors and decision-makers across the country from coast to coast.

As the chair of the Campbell High School counseling department, she led her team in becoming the first high school in Georgia to receive the Recognized ASCA Model Program® (RAMP) award from the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) in 2008, and she was named the ASCA School Counselor of the Year in 2009.

In 2010, Dr. Hartline became the GSCA Advocacy Chair and held this position until 2013. During that time, she worked in collaboration with others to develop a statewide advocacy campaign for school counseling, convince elected officials to lower the school counselor/student ratios in Georgia state law, and gain the support of the Georgia Department of Education Superintendent for a statewide school counselor performance evaluation in alignment with the appropriate role of a counselor.

We can’t wait for her to be recognized at the GSCA Annual Conference on November 8th! Congratulations, Julie!
