Our signature full-day virtual institute
designed for school counselors and leaders who are working to
integrate data into their school counseling program

OVERVIEW

  • Have you been interested in learning more about how to integrate data into your school counseling program?

  • Does the word ‘data’ evoke a little anxiety or disgruntled feelings? Not sure where to start?

  • Would you like to learn how to demonstrate the impact and results of your school counseling program with your administration and colleagues?

During Hatching Results’ virtual Use of Data in School Counseling Institute - Overview & Foundations, we’ll provide school counselors with new ways of moving from reactive to proactive service delivery and from random acts of guidance to intentional school counseling. By using data to determine what all students deserve to receive and when some students need more, participants will learn effective ways to hold themselves accountable and advocate for systems change while providing a multi-tiered, multi-domain system of supports for ALL students.

This virtual institute will be led by Dr. Julie Hartline, co-author of our best-selling text, The Use of Data in School Counseling (2e). This day will be a motivating introduction by Dr. Julie Hartline on how to integrate data into your school counseling program, ensure you are meeting the needs of ALL students through a tiered service delivery model framework (Multi-Tiered, Multi-Domain System of Supports), and planning effectively for counselors who are newer to this work.

In addition, you will experience:

  • Interactive, hands-on sessions filled with tools and artifacts that you can put into practice tomorrow

  • Real-life stories and examples of how practicing school counselors have utilized data to better serve their students and communities

  • Opportunities to meet and collaborate with school counselors from all over the country on how they plan to integrate data into their comprehensive school counseling programs.

WHAT IS INCLUDED?

This virtual institute is focused heavily on the content of our textbook, and it will be an essential component of your learning and application of the material covered in the institute. Therefore, we’ve included a digital copy of the book as part of registration for this event. All registrants will receive an email with a code to redeem their digital copy via eBooks.com. Due to the logistical complexity, we cannot offer custom options for attendees who may already own a copy of the textbook. However, it makes a wonderful gift to a colleague!

FACILITATOR

Dr. Julie Hartline, Director, Advancement Services

Dr. Hartline entered the field of education in 1991 after serving as a parole officer and discovering that over 85% of her caseload had not completed high school. She wanted to be a proactive part of the solution and reach young people before they made life-altering choices so she became a teacher. After teaching for seven years, she found her true calling as a school counselor. Julie served as the chair of the Campbell High School counseling department for 14 years where her department became the first high school in Georgia to receive the Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) award from the American School Counselor Association in 2008. While at Campbell, she was named the 2009 ASCA School Counselor of the Year, and she earned her doctorate in Professional Counseling and Supervision in 2011 with her dissertation, "Training School Counselors to Close the Achievement Gap."

In 2012, Julie became the School Counseling Consultant for the Cobb County School District where she helped to supervise approximately 300 school counselors in implementing comprehensive, data-driven school counseling programs for five years, coaching over 30 schools through the RAMP process. During that time, she also served as the 2014-2015 Georgia School Counselor Association President and was actively involved in changing Georgia legislation, certification and policy impacting school counseling. Julie taught future school counselors as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of North Florida from 2017 - 2020 until she joined the Hatching Results team in a more dedicated role. She is the co-author of The Use of Data in School Counseling, second edition.
