Together, we'll challenge biases, dismantle barriers, and cultivate a school counseling profession that champions equitable outcomes for all students.

FACILITATORS

Dr. Rebecca Pianta, Lead Professional Learning Specialist, Hatching Results

Dr. Rebecca Pianta is a champion for equity and a passionate advocate for the school counseling profession. With 17 years of experience in education, she has been a school counselor at all levels, district lead counselor, administrator, and adjunct professor. As Coordinator of Counseling and Student Support in her former District, Dr. Pianta oversaw the District-wide comprehensive school counseling program and led in the development of the District Cultural Proficiency Strategic Plan. Due to her diligent leadership, twelve schools earned the Recognized American School Counselors Association (ASCA) Model Program (RAMP) designation.

In 2019, she was recognized as California and Orange County Counselor Advocate of the Year. Currently, Dr. Pianta is the Coordinator of College and Career Readiness at Santa Ana Unified School District, where she supports 200 school counselors in implementing culturally sustaining comprehensive school counseling programs, and she is an adjunct professor at Concordia University. She is also an ASCA Lead RAMP Reviewer and serves as the Director of Equity and Diversity for the California Association of School Administrators Region 17.

Derek Francis, Professional Learning Specialist, Hatching Results

Derek Francis is a passionate school counselor with years of experience focusing on a proactive, equity-based approach. He currently serves as the Manager of Counseling Services for Minneapolis Public Schools. Derek specializes in helping students and staff build trusting, cross-cultural relationships and has presented at conferences throughout the country, including the American School Counselor Association, Minnesota School Counselors Association, Texas School Counselor Association, and Wisconsin School Counselor Association. Recently, Derek led a webinar for over 20,000 counselors and educators on “Proactive School Counseling After a Major Racial Incident.” Some of Derek’s published work includes contributions to "Contemporary Case Studies in School Counseling," blog “This Is Not A Fire Drill–Supporting Students After George Floyd,” and July/August articles for the American School Counselor Association and American School Board Journal.

Cancellation Policy

Your online registration is binding and you are responsible for the cost, whether paying by purchase order or credit card. Unlike in-person conferences, this virtual conference is curated and session recordings will remain accessible to paid registrants for three months. Accordingly, there will be no refunds. However, registrations are transferable. To submit a one-time registration transfer request in writing, contact admin@hatchingresults.com by November 11, 2024.
