A Shout-out to Our District Partner, Compton USD

Hey, there! I’d like to take a moment to share an inspiring story about one of our long-standing partner districts, Compton Unified School District, with whom we’ve had the privilege of working for the past four years. In their ongoing efforts to break down barriers to post-secondary opportunities, Dominguez High School—a standout in the district—was recently featured in an SFGATE article for its remarkable achievement: an exceptional student acceptance rate to UC Berkeley.

Here’s an excerpt:

“Joining Mission High near the top of the admit list in the Chronicle’s ranking was Dominguez High School in Compton, which according to the U.S. News World & Report rankings, has a student population of 99.8% ethnic minority groups, with 59% of students classified as “economically disadvantaged.” Between 2022 to 2024, Dominguez High had a 30% acceptance rate to UC Berkeley, with 39 students out of 132 applicants admitted. For fall 2024 specifically, six of 28 applicants from Dominguez High, or 29%, were admitted to UC Berkeley."

What an amazing example of Closing The Gap data! When chatting about this with our team, Whitney Triplett, our VP of Partner Services, said:

“That type of admission data doesn't happen by accident - it speaks to the level of intentionality that they are putting into a postsecondary advising strategy.”

I wholeheartedly agree.
