Administrators Guiding School Counselors’ Legal and Ethical Practice

Administrators who supervise school counselors must support them in negotiating the complexities of working in the over-regulated school environment, student’s need for confidentiality and the legal rights of parents to be the guiding voice in their children lives. Ten court rulings that provide critical guidance for administrators of school counselors will be highlighted in areas such as sexually active students, bullying, academic advising, child abuse, educational records, sexual harassment, first amendment rights, cyber speech, and transgender youth. The goal is to facilitate administrators’ knowledge of legal literacy related to school counselors and provide guiding principles to support best ethical practices.
Get your questions answered! Lecture and discussion followed by optional individual consult appointments.
