The best part of the training was:

  • Validating and great inspirational ideas that are relevant for us-especially as we are on the RtI train
  • Moved at a pace where learning was the goal and we really accomplished our goals
  • Learning that data is not so scary!!  Getting the confidence…to know this is do-able!
  • Hearing the presentation again – there were updates and new material – hearing it again and thinking about next steps and how I can better implement.

  • I’m not a school counselor but learned a ton of useful concepts that can be transferred to my CTE area (Business & Information Technology).  Data seems/is to be driving every area of education.   Career and Technical Education has some of the same issues as school counselors have.
  • Seeing examples and having to do the work.  Going through types of data and having to pre-post test it.  An example from Trish on how to present with data and citing it.
  • Learning something that I can use and take back to the district that will benefit me, the kids, and the district.
  • Walking through the action plan development was extremely valuable.  This information will be invaluable as I/we move forward to re-build a comprehensive school counselors program.
  • You have given me a great framework for connecting our work in counseling to RtI.  The Flashlight tool for sharing our work.

-This was a truly incredible training.  A very comprehensive overview of what a model school counseling program should look like.  Lots of good materials examples were shared.  Thank you!!  The presentation was very well organized and implemented/taught.  Incredibly informative and inspirational – I wish every counselor in my district could receive this training.

I found out on Friday that we received the RAMP designation!  I wanted to thank you for all your support and guidance over the past several years.  I remember your first workshop with us and how excited and energized I felt.  I couldn't wait to get back to my school and begin making changes to the program!  It is so affirming to be able to show that what we do makes a difference.  I appreciate all the time you have taken with me, and the support and input you have given me.  Your work is impacting so many children!  You are amazing!

Omaha Public Schools Cathy Hanrahan The counselor academy was great. Since OPS already does CCBG, I was afraid that the information would be a rehash of what I already knew. There was some of that but the majority of it was new - or at least a new way to look at and use the model. The idea of collecting data on only one competency seems much more manageable. Also, the different types of data-process, perception & results - was very helpful. Finally, using intentional Guidance was a totally new concept that I think we need to implement.
